Men’s Hormone Health
What is Testosterone?
Testosterone is a key hormone responsible for energy levels, muscle mass, fat distribution, libido, and mood. As men age, testosterone levels naturally decline, but other factors like stress, poor sleep, medical conditions, or lifestyle habits can also contribute to low levels. When testosterone drops below optimal levels, it can lead to fatigue, weight gain, low libido, and reduced muscle mass, which the Men’s Hormone Health Program can help address.
How does the virtual Men’s Hormone Health program work?
Our virtual Men’s Hormone Health Program starts with an in-depth online health assessment, followed by a comprehensive blood panel to evaluate your hormone levels and overall health. After your results are reviewed, you’ll have a video consultation with a licensed clinician to discuss your symptoms and receive a personalized treatment plan. If prescribed, your medication is shipped directly to you in a three-month supply, with quarterly follow-ups to monitor progress and adjust your treatment as needed.
What does the blood work include, and when should it be done?
Our comprehensive blood panel measures testosterone levels, key hormone markers, and overall health indicators to assess if TRT is right for you. Blood work should be completed in the morning after a 12-hour fast, as testosterone levels are highest at this time.
What are the costs with the Men’s Hormone Health program?
The initial cost includes $50 for blood work and $150 for a consultation, ensuring you only pay the full amount if treatment is prescribed. Follow-up consultations are $200 every three months to monitor progress and adjust your treatment plan as needed.
What are the benefits of TRT, and how soon will I see results?
TRT can help improve energy levels, mood, muscle mass, fat distribution, libido, and overall well-being. Some benefits, like increased energy and improved mood, may be noticeable within weeks, while changes in muscle strength and body composition develop over several months. Individual results may vary.
What treatment options are available for low testosterone?
TRT can be administered through injections, gels, or creams depending on your preferences and medical history. In some cases, additional medications such as Pregnyl (hCG) may be included to support hormone balance and preserve fertility. Your clinician will guide you in selecting the most appropriate approach.
Will hormone therapy affect my fertility?
Traditional testosterone therapy can reduce fertility by suppressing the body’s natural hormone signals involved in sperm production. If preserving fertility is important to you, your clinician can design a treatment plan that includes fertility-supportive options, such as hCG, while still addressing low testosterone symptoms.
How does hCG (Pregnyl) support fertility within the program?
hCG works by stimulating the testes in a way similar to luteinizing hormone (LH), helping maintain sperm production and natural testosterone production. When appropriate, it can be used alongside testosterone therapy or as part of a fertility-preserving treatment plan.
Who is eligible for fertility-preserving treatment options?
Men with low or borderline-low testosterone who wish to maintain fertility, or who are planning to conceive in the future, may be eligible. Eligibility is determined based on blood work, medical history, symptoms, and individual goals.
Is fertility-supportive treatment lifelong?
Not necessarily. Treatment duration depends on your hormone levels, symptoms, fertility goals, and overall health. Your clinician will reassess regularly and adjust your plan as needed.
Can I stop treatment if my goals or circumstances change?
Yes! If you decide to pause or stop treatment, your clinician will guide you through a safe and appropriate transition, which may include tapering or follow-up monitoring.
Menopause Care
What is menopause and how do I know if I’m experiencing it?
Menopause is a natural transition when the ovaries stop ovulating and menstrual cycles come to an end due to significant hormonal changes. It occurs in three stages:
- Perimenopause (35+): Hormone levels begin to fluctuate, leading to irregular periods, hot flashes, mood swings, night sweats, and sleep disturbances.
- Menopause (after 12 consecutive months without a period): The body adjusts to lower hormone levels, and symptoms like vaginal dryness, fatigue, weight gain, and emotional changes may persist.
- Postmenopause (usually after age 60): Symptoms often lessen, but the long-term effects of lower hormone levels increase the risk of osteoporosis, heart disease, and metabolic changes.
How do hormones change during menopause?
As menopause progresses, key hormones decrease, leading to noticeable changes:
- Estrogen decreases: causes hot flashes, night sweats, vaginal dryness, and mood swings, while increasing the risk of osteoporosis and heart disease.
- Progesterone decreases: leads to anxiety, insomnia, and irregular periods.
- Testosterone decreases: results in low libido, fatigue, and muscle weakness.
- Cortisol decreases: increases stress sensitivity, anxiety, and emotional fluctuations.
- Metabolism decreases: leads to weight gain, especially around the abdomen, and raises the risk of insulin resistance.
These hormonal shifts impact overall health, but lifestyle changes and medical support can help manage symptoms.
How does the virtual menopause program work?
Our virtual menopause program starts with a simple online health assessment, followed by a comprehensive blood work panel to ensure treatment is safe for you. Once your results are reviewed, you’ll have a video consultation with a licensed clinician to discuss your symptoms and receive a personalized treatment plan. If prescribed, your medication is shipped directly to you in a three-month supply, with quarterly follow-ups to monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed.
Why is blood work required and when should it be done?
During menopause, hormone levels fluctuate constantly, so blood tests don’t determine treatment needs as they do for other conditions. Instead, blood work is used to rule out underlying issues and ensure there are no contraindications to treatment, prioritizing safety. Our comprehensive blood panel checks 13 key markers, including hormone levels, overall biochemistry, ferritin, and vitamin B12. The timing of your blood work depends on your menstrual cycle.
- Regular cycles: Draw blood between days 19-21 of your cycle.
- No period for 1+ years: Blood work can be done anytime.
Irregular cycles: Aim for days 19-21, counting from your last cycle. All blood work should be completed in the morning after a 12-hour fast.
What are the costs of the menopause program?
The initial costs include $50 for blood work, and a $200 consultation fee if you are deemed eligible for treatment. Follow-up consultations are $200 every 3 months to monitor progress and adjust treatment as needed.
What treatment options are available for menopause symptoms?
Menopause symptoms can be managed with Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT), which restores key hormones to alleviate discomfort. Treatment options include pills, patches, and creams, depending on your needs and lifestyle. If HRT isn’t suitable, non-hormonal medications or supplements may be recommended to help with energy, sleep, and overall wellbeing. Our licensed clinicians will guide you toward the best treatment for your symptoms.
